We spent four years serving the Lord with Bible Centered Ministries International in Lima, Peru (March ’09-Dec. ’12). Brian was in charge of the maintenance of the facilities and Lisa home schooled, in English, 5 Peruvian missionary children. You can read more about our time in Peru by clicking on the category “Life in Peru.”
In November 2012, we were asked to consider joining a new ministry, back in eastern Pennsylvania. By April 2013, we knew this was where God was taking us and we came on staff at Missionary Retreat Fellowship in Lake Ariel, PA.
This is a beautiful, 55-acre, housing facility for missionaries and Christian ministry workers. There are 8 homes and 1 efficiency suite, all completely furnished and move-in ready. Missionaries rent the homes at a reasonable rate and stay anywhere from one night to two years.
As maintenance director, Brian does all the maintenance, repairs, and remodeling on the homes. We work together to ensure the homes are ready for guests – doing any necessary cleaning and updating of the furnishings and decor. We try help the residents feel at home during whatever transition time they are in.
We are still with our mission board, though! We do quite a bit of work with BCM International. We enjoy representing BCM at colleges and churches whenever given the opportunity. Brian is on the tech team. He is in charge of all the different BCM Int’l websites and consults on websites for various BCM ministries worldwide. He is the graphic designer for the BCM World magazine that comes out online a few times a year and gets printed once a year. Lisa writes a weekly internal newsletter and magazine articles for the BCM World. Lisa is also a teacher trainer using BCM’s curriculum In Step with the Master Teacher.
Lisa works as the children’s ministry director for our sending church, Grace Bible Church. She heads the various ministries, trains the volunteers, and plans various programs and events. Brian is an elder and is in charge of all the tech/sound areas and does maintenance at the church. We love being able to serve the church that took such good care of us while we were in Lima!
And then, of course, there’s our most important job:
Being mom and dad to the best kids on earth.
