Here we are in freeeezing cold South Dakota! We drove for two days and landed in Wisconsin for a weekend (the 14-17th). We drove two more long days (thanks to lots of snow in Minnesota, what else is new…) and arrived in South Dakota the evening of the 18th. We spent Christmas with Brian’s family, including our niece and nephew who are both 3 years old. Elena is loving time with her cousins and 3 uncles and 2 aunts and grandparents! Her vocabulary has gone from mostly Spanish to now new English words every day and very little Spanish. She got to play in the snow for the first time in Minnesota at a rest area. She ran into a drift and just stood there, not sure what to do! She’s also gone swimming with her cousin at the rec center, another new thing for her.
These days we’re just enjoying some down time with Brian’s family. It’s bitterly cold outside so unfortunately Elena can’t spend too much time in the snow yet. She’s got a drippy nose and a cough, but we kind of expected that with all the changes in climate lately.
We don’t have any speaking engagements lined up for South Dakota. We really wanted to be able to announce where we’re headed to next before doing lots of presentations. Since we aren’t sure of that destination yet, we thought we’d hold off for now. But, if you’re out here in South Dakota and would like to get together just to chat (or see the kiddos!) give us a call at Brian’s parents’ house or drop us an email. We will be back in Wisconsin the end of January and then back in Pennsylvana the beginning of February.
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and we wish you a Happy New Year!
