Here we go! Two more days and then we’ll have our little boy! We had our final check-up last night and the baby is nice and ready to make his entrance into the world. We shouldn’t have any respiratory or heart problems at this rate. I’m nervous about the surgery (Brian is, too!), so please keep us in your prayers Thursday. We need to arrive at the clinic around 11am and should be in surgery by 2pm, though my doctor is notoriously late for… everything… so it could be later! Regardless, by Thursday evening, we’ll have our little boy. Please pray for us – peace of mind, safety, and health for myself and the baby. Pray also for Elena. She does super well with our friends that are helping watch her, but she’s never been away from us for such a length of time before. She’ll be with sitters each day through Sunday, but Brian will be coming home each night to be with her so that should help. She knows something is up, though, so just pray she adjusts easily to her baby brother.
Saturday is actually Elena’s 2nd birthday. We hadn’t really given much thought to her birthday this year; the plan was always to keep it nice and simple since we didn’t know what would be happening with the baby. Well, her sitter, Eva, and our good friend, Cristofer, have decided to throw together a birthday party for her! Tomorrow evening, our house will be turned into party-central and filled with all the female IBYM students and all the kids who live here. Should be… chaotic! Elena’s going to love it! It’s just so nice to know that our little girls is loved by everybody here. It’ll make her 2nd birthday much more memorable (well, for us anyway) than what Mommy and Daddy had planned!
Brian has been busy getting as much done as humanly possible before he goes MIA for awhile in order to be with the family. The Family Fair is coming up on October 8, so he’s been busy building an extra stage and some stairs. He’s finishing up that work today. He’s also making sure all the other work necessary for the Fair has been divided up and getting accomplished in time.
On top of his normal work, he’s been super–husband here at home. I’m technically not allowed to do much right now, so he’s been doing a lot of the cooking, cleaning, and taking care of Elena. I don’t know what I’d do without him! For example, I woke up this morning and he’d already done the dishes from yesterday that we didn’t have time to do, taken out the trash, fed Elena, and cleaned up the downstairs. Saturday, he spent the day in the kitchen cooking up a storm so we’d have stuff to freeze for post-baby. I am so blessed!
